Jun 14, 2013 (newstodate): The Airbus A350XWB is now in the air, having started on its very first flight, scheduled to last for some four hours.
Granting a safe landing, the aircraft will thus be launching a one-year test and certification period including some 2,500 flights hours.
The first phase of this period will entail identification of the aircraft aerodynamics, successively followed by a range of adjustments and minor modifications before the entire systems design is frozen ahead of the second phase of the test period ending with the final certification prior to entry into service by the latter half of 1014.
