Jun 10, 2013 (newstodate): A splendid newly-refurbished airport in Serbia has still to see its first airline operator.
Morava Kraljevo Airport has one 2,200m runway, a new ATC tower and a new 3,000 sq m passenger terminal but has still not been able to attract a single airline operator.
One problem is the runway that will need an extension to 2,750 m to allow for operations by commercial jet aircraft.
The project has long been ready for launch, expect for the granting of finances that was earlier promised by Turkey.
Besides introducing passenger traffic to serve the industries in the region as well as the Bosniak population in the region, the airport is also expected to appeal to air cargo operators.
