Next to follow is the extension of the airport's 2,800m runway that today allows the operation by large aircraft including Boeing 747 - but at a weight penalty.
With the planned extension to 3,200m to be completed by Q4, 2014, the runway will facilitate operations by large aircraft without restrictions on maximum take-off weight.
In 2012, the airport handled a total of 2,550,848 passengers, up 0.5 percent y-o-y.
