On the first day of opening, Airbus has proved the continued viability of its super-jumbo program - the Airbus A380, landing a spectacular order from Germany's Doric Lease Corp.
The two parties have signed a LoI for delivery of 20 Airbus A380 aircraft.
With 18 Airbus A380 aircraft acquired through sale-leaseback arrangements with Emirates and Singapore Airlines, Doric Lease Corp is already the world's third-largest wide-body lessor by value.
Since first entering service in 2007, the A380 has joined the fleets of nine carriers and the total A380 fleet has accumulated over 920,000 flight hours in close to 110,000 commercial flights with 40 million passengers.
At May 31, total A380 orders stood at 262, of which 103 have been delivered.
