Jun 27, 2013 (newstodate): Another new commercial aircraft is soon to lift off on its maiden flights: the Bombardier CS300.
As has been the case with most other new aircraft programs in recent years, the maiden flights is indeed long overdue, initially planned for the second half of 2012 and now re-scheduled for July 2013 after a recent further delay by one month.
Among the first customers to this aircraft is the Latvian carrier airBaltic that has placed firm orders for delivery of 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft, with deliveries originally slated to start by Q4, 2015.
The carrier also holds options for a further 10 units, and it remains to be seen if the original delivery schedule will hold.
The new fleet of medium-range aircraft to replace the Boeing 737-300 and 737-500 aircraft will complement the carrier's fleet of 13 Bombardier Q400 aircraft used on regional routes.
So far, Bombardier has logged a total of 114 firm orders for the CS300 aircraft.
