Jun 10, 2013 (newstodate): Uniting Lithuania's three international airport under one unified management is the single most efficient model.
-If we did not go this way, many resources would be wasted by internal competition and the country's airports infrastructure would be ruined, says Arijandas Sliupas, vice-minister of transport & communications.
-Hopes are that this reorganization will also contribute to the regional development in both the Eastern, Central and Western part of the country by allowing each airport to develop its own potentials within a unified framework.
-The government's proposal is now put forward for approval by the parliament after which the legal procedures in setting up this Plc and the transfer of the three airports to this company will hopefully be completed by Q2, 2014.
-There is absolutely no bias towards the capital airport, Vilnius Airport. When the new positions are to be filled, the competencies from each of the three airport will be taken into account in order to pick the best management team to take the airports of Palanga, Kaunas and Vilnius into a new future, says Mr Sliupas.
