Jun 11, 2013 (newstodate): Starting from August 1, 2013, Qatar Airways is to deploy its Boeing 787 aircraft on the routes to Scandinavia.
First to come are the carrier's Boeing 787 services between Doha and Stockholm, Sweden, from August 1 to be served with Dreamliner on three out of seven weekly rotations.
Next step is to introduce the Dreamliner on the routes from Doha to Copenhagen, Denmark, and Oslo, Norway from September 1, 2013, also served with three weekly rotations out of seven.
On all three routes to the Scandinavian capitals, Qatar Airways will implement daily rotations with Boeing 787 aircraft, starting from the implementation of this winter's schedule by October 27, 2013.
Qatar Airways first entered the Scandinavian market on November 27, 2007, by opening the route to Stockholm, later adding flights to Copenhagen from March 30, 2010, and to Oslo from October 5, 2011.
In the Nordic region, Finland is still alone in not yet being a Qatar Airways destination despite the fact that the carrier actually pledged in 2012 to launch flights to Helsinki "soon".
Finland will, however, be the first market in the region to see regular flights by the Boeing 787 aircraft as Japan Air Lines launches its route between Tokyo Narita Airport and Helsinki Vantaa Airport from July 1, 2013, using the aircraft on the daily rotations.
