Jun 20, 2013 (newstodate): After seven years of suspension, scheduled flight connections between Georgia and Russia may again become feasible.
Suspended since October, 2006, after the military conflict between Russia and Georgia, air traffic between Russia and Georgia was cautiously resumed from March 25, 2008, but only on a charter basis that was also blocked several times, forcing passengers to transfer via Moscow, Yerevan, St Petersburg and other airports entailing long detours.
Both parties are now, however, airing intentions of seeing a normalization of the provision of scheduled flights connecting Georgia and Russia in the near future, according to industry sources.
