Jun 24, 2013 (newstodate): According to a single Danish newspaper, a merger between two leading Nordic carriers might be on the agenda.
The Danish paper quotes Finnair's new CEO, Pekka Vauramo as saying that the two carriers SAS and Finnair could merge to form a single international airline.
If realized, Finnair would be building up its positions of strength in the Asian region while SAS would be focusing on expansion on the Trans Atlantic route segment.
No official statements, however, indicate that such a business plan is actually being considered.
