Jun 11, 2013 (newstodate): The Icelandic/Danish charter carrier Primera Air is taking its first steps entering the air cargo market.
-We are moving cautiously from the start, taking only small steps to build experience and test the market. But as we do fly, we might just as well utilize the aircraft's cargo capacity to generate revenues, says Hrafn Thorgeirsson, Primera Air Scandinavia Managing Director.
-Our first move into this business consists of flying some one or two tonnes of Icelandic seafood from Iceland to Billund Airport, Denmark, on our weekly Boeing 737-800 flight. But plans are to open up for more cargo business between the Icelandic market, our Scandinavian destinations and selected points in Europe, says Mr Thorgeirsson.
For a start, Primera Air is cooperating with Icelandic GSA, Cargo Express for cargo sales to and from Iceland.
