Jun 03, 2013 (newstodate): Lithuania's Baltic Ground Services has become the first ground handling provider to develop, certificate and produce its own eco-friendly Type I deicing fluid in Europe, Defrosol ADF.
Certified in May 2013 by AMIL, a Canadian research laboratory and SMI, a Florida-based global leader in aerospace material testing, Defrosol ADF is to enter the market as a Type I deicing fluid based on natural materials gained from renewable sources.
The utilization of glycerin instead of mono propylene glycol in a chemical composition of the fluid allows to lower carbon emission during the deicing process thus substantially decreasing the environmental impact.
Further to ecologically advantageous characteristic, Defrosol ADF also comes with low aquatic toxicity as well as better anti-corrosion characteristics.
The batch production of the fluid is expected to be launched by this autumn, and Baltic Ground Services plans to start using Defrosol ADF in the Winter season 2013/2014.
Similarly, the new de-icing fluid will be offered to other market players as well from autumn 2013.
Baltic Ground Services is providing a range of handling services including de-icing at Vilnius and Palanga in Lithuania as well as at the six largest airports in Poland - Warsaw, Wroclaw, Krakow, Gdansk, Poznan and Katowice.
