Jun 24, 2013 (newstodate): If plans materialize, Georgia will see the launch of yet another privately-owned carrier in 2013 - Tbilisi Airlines.
Ambitions are high at the new fledgling carrier that plans to rival the services of Turkish Airlines within the coming five or seven years.
With Georgi Berdzenishvili as CEO, Tbilisi Airlines will reportedly take delivery of its first Airbus A320 aircraft on October 3, 2013, and the aircraft will be introduced on new routes from Tbilisi to destinations in Europe and Asia.
Tbilisi Airlines claims to be negotiating with Airbus for delivery of up to 10 Airbus A320 aircraft until July 2014, while leasing contracts have already been signed for four Airbus A320 to be delivered in 2013.
Initially, the schedule will comprise flights to 13 destinations, including Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Erbil and Tehran, starting from the beginning of this year's winter schedule.
The planned new carrier will lift-off closely after another new Georgian carrier, Fly Georgia that took off on its first flight from Tbilisi to Brussels on June 5, 2013.
