Jun 12,m 2013 (newstodate): Airbus has now confirmed the plans for the first test flight of the new Airbus A350XWB aircraft.
The event will take place on Friday, June 14, 2013, weather conditions permitting.
French ATC workers are currently on strike, but even if it is not called off before then, the test flight will take place anyhow as Airbus has its own ATC systems in place at the Airbus-part of the Toulouse Blagnac Airport.
The A350 XWB flight test teams are now carrying out the last checks on the A350 XWB MSN1 before they give their final green light for the first flight to take place this Friday.
Recent pre-first flight tests successfully carried out include the first power up of the fuel efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines on MSN1, which took place on June 2.
In December 2006 the EADS Board of Directors gave the green light for the industrial launch of the A350XWB Family.
Entry into service of the first A350 XWB was planned for 2013 against the earlier EIS by 2010 of the initial Airbus A350 concept that , however, scrapped leading to the redesign of the aircraft.
Airbus now aims at the second half of 2014 for Entry Into Service of its new long-haul aircraft.
