Jun 04, 2013 (newstodate): The first flight of the new Airbus A350 XWB aircraft is approaching.
No date for the virgin flights has yet been announced, but after last week's first engine start-up, the aircraft has now performed its first runway taxi tests.
Expectations are now that Airbus will present the aircraft by a fly-by at the forthcoming Paris Air Show, June 17-23, 2013.
The first Airbus A350 flight would then be expected any time over the next two weeks.
Airbus has so far booked 616 firm orders for the Airbus A350, while Singapore Airlines also intends to take a further 30 and British Airways 18 aircraft of various variants of the aircraft.
