Jun 21, 2013 (newstodate): The implementation from April 29, 2013, of EU's requirements on 100 percent screening of all export air cargo is now a fact of daily routine.
-The introduction did not cause any significant problems or snags, and daily operations are running smoothly as well, says Henrik Holming Werner, General Manager for Swissport Cargo Services in Denmark.
-Peak periods can generate some stress but not more than under the earlier conditions, and we have back-up solutions in place to handle special situations and requirements.
-Some forwarders were fully prepared, others not, and even some of the major exporting companies are still not fully in place as to certification. But the process is ongoing, and we do not see any specific problems. After all, everything went easier as predicted, or feared.
-In general, the situation in the Danish airfreight market seems to be more or less on a par with 2012. No major ups or downs, few newcomers in the market but a rather stable development indicating that 2013 will end up like 2012, given of course that are no major macro-economic surprises, says Mr Holming Werner.
