May 17, 2013 (newstodate): Swissport has made its first entrance into the Russian airport handling market.
On May 16, 2013, the Swiss company signed an agreement on cooperation and joint business activities with the Vnukovo-based handling company "Servis" to provide handling services under the name of Swissport Russia.
The Russian partner employs 1,300 staff at Moscow Vnukovo Airport handling some 130 foreign and Russian carriers including Transaero generating about 100,000 flights per year.
The new venture with the Russian partner is seen as a first step for Swissport in expanding further into the Russian airport handling market.
