May 06, 2013 (newstodate): The Serbs carrier JAT has - again - installed a new director.
Newly appointed by the state that owns the carrier is Velibor Vukasinovic that will face the task of steering the carrier through yet another period with uncertainty while waiting for the outcome of the potential cooperation with Etihad Airways.
Etihad has now reportedly completed the assessment of the inner details of JAT, and a decision on whether to seek ownership in the Serb carrier will then be made later this summer.
As a first step, Etihad and JAT have signed a code-share agreement.
One major immediate problem for the new director is to secure an increase in the aircraft fleet, and JAT is now to lease two Airbus A319 aircraft from Adria Airways, one Boeing 737-200 aircraft will be returned to service shortly, while JAT is also expected to lease two more Airbus A320 and one ATR72 aircraft to cope with this summer's schedule.
