May 03, 2013 (newstodate): While the projected new carrier Greenland Express is passenger-driven, air cargo is high on the agenda from the start as well.
Among the partners behind the project is the Dutch company Silver Tiger Aviation, a total solutions company in the aviation and air cargo business that is now manning most of the senior management positions of Greenland Express.
-At Greenland Express, we are indeed very interested in developing also the cargo business, seeing huge potentials for the carrier serving the Greenland society in an era with promising prospects of growth with new industrial and business undertakings including mineral exploitation and seafood exports, says Bas Dankers, CCO at Silver Tiger Aviation as well as Greenland Express Commercial Director.
-These developments call for provision of special cargo operations to serve e.g. the mining industry and we will certainly monitor these potentials closely.
-We will start out with offering capacity on one Airbus A320 aircraft operated by Denim Air and flying on their AOC. This aircraft type will offer limited cargo capacity in terms of volume, weight and dimensions, but as the market develops, we may respond by adding dedicated capacity in the form of aircraft types that are capable of operating at the country's small airfields to bring cargo close to the sites.
-We are committed to work closely with Greenland's government and society to contribute to the continued development of the country and have the capability to respond to what is required in the market. Right now we are focusing all energies to get the project through the process towards a first lift-off, so our plans for the cargo business are still mainly visions. But we will be keen to introduce cargo services also as a key business segment from the start, says Mr Dankers.
