May 13, 2013 (newstodate): Sweden's Orebro Airport is to see an increase in its postal flights operations from this autumn.
New at the airport from September 2013 will be five weekly night operations between Orebro and Stockholm Arlanda with Amapola Fokker 50 aircraft, operating for Post Sweden.
Orebro Airport expects to land around 20,000 tonnes of cargo in 2013, reflecting the general 20 percent decline in the country's total airfreight volumes.
The main drivers in the cargo traffic are DHL, followed by TNT, both operating five weekly night operations, but the airport is also engaged in ad-hoc cargo operations.
-The volume of commercial ad-hoc freighter operations, formerly a significant contributor to the airport, has decreased strongly over the last few years, but we are still seeing occasional commercial freighter flights while most operations these days are military flights using aircraft up to the size of Boeing 747 and AN-124, says Mr Hakan Nilsson, Orebro Airport Cargo Manager.
