May 06, 2013 (newstodate): Spring did not come early to the airfreight markets in the Nordic region, as seen from the latest IATA statistics on export volumes.
All four Nordic markets experienced negative growth in March 2013, the latest month accounted for in the CASS system.
Norway's IATA export volumes dipped the most, with a decline by 16.3 percent, y-o-y, to 7,524 tonnes.
Sweden fared second-worst albeit at a more moderate degree, with a drop by 3.5 percent to 8,676 tonnes.
In Finland, export volumes were down 1.9 percent to 3,547 tonnes, while Denmark dropped "only" 1.4 percent, top a total of 6,374 tonnes.
The Easter holidays may provide at least a partial reason for the over-all decline in IATA export cargo in March 2013.
