May 24, 2013 (newstodate): The new Lithuanian carrier under formation, Air Lituanica is progressing in its plans for a launch of flights by the end of next month.
-This week, the Lithuanian CAA has been conducting its audit of Air Lituanica as a further step towards issuing an AOC, says Sandra Meskauskaite, Air Lituanica Communication Manager.
-As of today, we have 31 employees, cockpit crews and cabin crews included. We are still in the process of hiring staff, so now we have almost 20 crew members and we need to have a total of 40. The recruitment process will continue until the first flight.
-As has earlier been communicated, we will start out with two aircraft. We are now finalizing the lease contract with Estonian Air for one Embraer 170 aircraft, and the second aircraft will be an Embraer 175 on a contract with Embraer's leasing company, ECC Leasing.
-On June 30, the first flight will lift off for Brussels with six weekly rotations. July 8 will see the start of our second route to Amsterdam with daily services, and during the following months we are planning to start flights to Berlin, Moscow, Prague, and Munich, says Ms Meskauskaite.
