May 23, 2013 (newstodate): Small Planet Airlines has appointed a new CFO to join the management team, with headquarters in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Starting from May 2013, Icelandic national Halldor Sigurdarson will be responsible for the company's expansion in international markets as well as all of its financial affairs.
Mr Sigurdarson brings in a background from financial and aviation industries having consulted clients in the field of financial management and accounting at the audit and business consultancy firm Deloitte and Touche and holding senior management positions at MRO's and airlines for over ten years, including Air Atlanta and Excel Airways.
Headed by Vytautas Kaikaris as CEO, Small Planet Airlines operates a fleet comprising seven Airbus A320 and two Boeing 737-300 aircraft based in Great Britain, France, Poland and Lithuania.
The company is currently amidst a fleet renewal programme by switching ageing Boeing 737-300 to newer Airbus A320 family aircraft.
Small Planet Airlines recently completed a management buy-out after which the carrier and its Polish subsidiary are now owned by Vytautas Kaikaris and Andrius Staniulis, constituting the initial management of the company.
