May 13, 2013 (newstodate): The first quarter of 2013 proved a time of steep decline in cargo volume at Sweden's second-largest cargo airport, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
During Q1 2013, the airport handled a total of 7,017 tonnes of cargo and mail - a drop by 38.6 percent from Q1 2012 when the airport handled 11,428 tonnes of cargo and mail.
The decline is primarily caused by the still-uncovered loss since September 2012 of the twice-weekly Boeing 747-400F freighter service by Asiana Cargo that was relocated to Oslo Gardermoen due to the fact that most of the export cargo actually consisted of Norwegian seafood.
