May 31, 2013 (newstodate): Finnair is now in the final preparations for launch of two new unique destinations in Asia - its prime market.
First to come will be the launch of services to Xian in China, with the first flight on June 15, 2013.
The flight program comprising three weekly rotations will continue until the end of the summer schedule.
Xian will also be the carrier's 5th destination in China, alongside Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Hong Kong.
Next to follow will be the opening of flights to Hanoi in Vietnam from July 14, 2013, and Finnair will offer three weekly rotations on the route until the end of the summer schedule on Oct 27, 2013.
In both cases, Finnair will be the first European airline to connect these destinations with Northern Europe by direct non-stop scheduled flights.
By launching these new flights on a seasonal basis, the carrier will monitor the market responses and gain experience to decide to introduce all-year services as a next stage.
Finnair will thus be operating flights from Helsinki to a total of 13 destinations in Asia as part of its decision to achieve its goal of doubling its Asian revenue by 2020.
