May 1, 2013 (newstodate): The implementation from April 29, 2013, of EU's requirements on 100 percent screening of all export air cargo did not cause any significant problems at Danish airports.
-Everything went fine and without problems or delays for export shipments, says Henrik Holming Werner, new General Manager for Swissport Cargo Services in Denmark since April 2013.
-Loads of exports on both Monday and Tuesday were relatively modest, maybe because forwarders held back in preparation for the cut-over date. Anyway, this also contributed to a relatively quiet and trouble-free launch of the new procedures. Everyone contributed and everything went fine. Now the next test will be Friday that is normally very busy, but by then we will all have adjusted fully to the new procedures, says Mr Holming Werner.
The same picture is reported by Denmark's second-largest international airport, Billund Airport.
-No problems here, either. Everything went smoothly, forwarders delivered their export cargo in good time and everyone was well aware of what was to be done. No snags here, despite a rather busy time around the introduction of the new procedures, says Jan Ditlevsen, Billund Airport VP and cargo manager.
