May 29, 2013 (newstodate): Since April 10, 2013, the Danish military has been a satisfied customer with Small Planet Airlines.
The Lithuanian charter carrier won the contract for air transport between Denmark and Afghanistan of Danish ISAF forces and equipment, and will provide some 52 rotations on annual basis.
To monitor the performance of its new provider, the military has been distributing questionnaires among all passengers on the flights, and the responses have been overwhelmingly positive, according to a military spokesman.
-The questionnaire has asked for passengers to rate the performance and quality of the flight on a scale from 1 to 5, and no rating has dipped below 3, and most ratings are actually above 4, he says.
-Regularity and punctuality has been very high, also thanks to the airline's ability to provide spare capacity in the few cases where required.
-The only quality issue has been with catering that has come out less favorably, but a solution is being found to this as well.
The flights are operated with Airbus A320 aircraft between Denmark and Afghanistan with a technical stop at Trabzon, in Turkey.
The contract with Small Planet Airlines was brokered on behalf of the Danish Ministry of Defense by DSV Projects, Air Chartering, a business unit of DSV Air & Sea.
