May 21, 2013 (newstodate): Armenia is seeking a new future for its capital Yerevan Zvartnots Airport and the future provision of air services.
Traffic has been decreasing significantly after the demise of the national carrier, Armavia by March 2013.
One option to be considered is developing Yerevan Zvartnots Airport as a new transfer airport by luring foreign airline operators with attractively low charges and subsidiaries.
"Foreign exports" have been called in to advise on how to initiate this process.
Armenia is also considering the future aviation policy of the state, with alternative spanning from full liberalization to the establishing of a new, state-owned airline to provide the country with air services.
