Apr 10, 2013 (newstodate): Swedish carriers are losing competitiveness against airlines registered in other countries.
Measured in proportion of the total volume of passengers, Swedish-registered carriers accounted for 40 percent of the Swedish passengers on international flights in 2055.
In 2008 this proportion had declined to 33 percent - and in 2011 the percentage was down to 28 percent, according to a recent analysis by Sweden's Transportstyrelsen.
The trend is manifest also when it comes to domestic air travel in Sweden.
In 2005, Swedish carriers accounted for 100 percent of the domestic air travel market.
This share declined to 92 percent in 2008 - and in 2011 only 82 percent of all domestic passengers in Sweden were transported by Swedish carriers.
