Apr 23, 2013 (newstodate): Norway's Trondheim Airport Vaernes will see an unusual flow of large commercial aircraft during the summer.
The cruise operator Pullmantour will use the airport for change of passengers and crews on its cruise calls along the Norwegian seas, requiring the uplift of close to 4,000 passengers during four busy Saturdays in June, July and August 2013.
Flight operations will include eight Boeing 747 and 15 Airbus A330/A340 rotations at the airport that handled a total of four mio passengers as well as 4,898 tonnes of cargo in 2012.
Except for occasional calls by large freighter aircraft, the airport's flight operations are mainly by aircraft up to the size of Airbus A320/Boeing 737 on routes primarily within Norway and Scandinavia.
