Apr 08, 2013 (newstodate): In February 2013, Latvia's Riga Airport saw its cargo volumes up by 168 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the intense growth were again the volumes transported by US carriers serving the ISAF forces with Riga as their European turn-table.
This traffic started from April 2012, so a clearer picture of the airport's actual development will only emerge with the May 2013-statistics.
In March 2013, the airport handled a total of 2,982 tonnes of cargo including also 604 tonnes of mail.
During Q1 2013 the airport handled a total of 8,238 tonnes of cargo and mail, an increase by 170.9 percent, y-o-y.
