Apr 18, 2013 (newstodate): Estonian Air is maybe breathing a sigh of relief as the deadline for delivery of its restructuring plan has again been postponed!
The latest deadline was today, April 18, 2013 - but it has now been re-scheduled for May 2013 instead.
The restructuring plan will be delivered for scrutiny by the government, and it will then be forwarded to the EU Commission for its assessment of adherence to EU regulations on state-aid to airlines.
Officially, the reason for this latest postponement is that the government is still occupied with budget talks, leaving no room on the agenda for a discussion on Estonian Air until a later meeting in May, 2013.
Be it as it may, the decision by the EU Commission to expand its ongoing investigation of the Estonian state's adherence to rules and regulations when repeatedly supporting its national carrier with loans might also make a postponement not unwelcome.
The restructuring plan was originally slated for completion by January 31, 2013, but has since been delayed several times.
