Apr 03, 2013 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo has contracted the Belgian air cargo trucking and logistics company E. Essers to provide trucking services to and from the carrier's new European freighter hub at Brussels Zaventem Airport.
Under the contract, H. Essers will take responsibility for all Finnair Cargo airfreight trucking between Brussels and the markets in Central Europe.
This new contract thus complements Finnair Cargo's three-year contract taking effect from March 2012 with the Danish trucking company HCS A/S Transport & Spedition HCS that is thus responsible for Finnair Cargo's entire air cargo trucking activities in and between all four Nordic markets as well as key North European markets including Germany, Holland, and Belgium.
Starting from April 6, 2013, the carrier's Brussels freighter hub will open up with weekly MD-11 freighter services connecting Brussels with New York JFK, Chicago O'Hare and Finnair's Helsinki hub, with non-stop freighter flights connecting with the carrier's Asian traffic.
Besides focusing on the the US-Europe-Asia market, the new Brussels hub will also connect Central Europe with new emerging trade lanes direct into Western and Central China -Chongqing and Xian- via Helsinki Vantaa Airport.
Effective from August 1, 2011, Finnair Cargo is handled at Brussels Zaventem Airport by Swissport International.
