Apr 25, 2013 (newstodate): The deadline, April 29, 2013, for enforcement of the EU Directive No 185 on 100 percent screening of all export air cargo shipments is fast approaching - but the situation in the Danish market seems to be under control.
-Over the coming weekend we will reach some 100 known consignor-certifications and more are in the pipeline in May and June, so after all the process has accelerated significantly during this last phase and we do not foresee any major problems, says Laurits Nielsen, the Danish Transport Authority in charge of the process.
-We will of course see some hiccups and snags, but tests at Denmark's airports have been conducted as a rehearsal to the cut-over date, and it seems that everything is in place.
-We have promised the Danish export airfreight industries that companies filing their application before March 1, 2013, would see the process completed before May 1, 2013 - and this holds, despite much stress on our limited resources at DTA. Companies filing after that will have to wait, but the process in moving ahead, says Mr Nielsen
