Apr 24, 2013 (newstodate): A dynamic growth in the internet-based trade has taken Russia's postal companies by surprise.
A huge back-log of some 300 tonnes of air mail and parcels is piling up at the airports of Moscow, and estimates are that it will require another three weeks to clear the shelves.
By the start of the month, the back-log was around 500 tonnes, but a system has now been established to transfer parts of the delayed parcels at Moscow Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo Airport to Moscow Vnukovo Airport that has expanded a team to handle the overflow.
Some 95 percent of the back-log of mail and parcels is reportedly driven by global internet trade.
