Feb 01, 2013 (newstodate): First to launch traffic at Georgia's new Kutaisi International Airport, Wizz Air is announcing the the opening of its fifth route into this destination in 2013.
The latest addition is a route connecting Kutaisi with Katowice, in Poland, starting from May 18, 2013, with two weekly rotations.
Effective from April 13, 2013, the carrier will introduce two weekly flights from Kutaisi to Donetsk, in Ukraine, from May 15, 2013, Wizz Air will offer two weekly rotation on the new route between Kutaisi and Warsaw, in Poland, and starting from July 1, 2013, the carrier will also open flights from Kutaisi to Kharkov, in Ukraine.
The carrier's first route from Kutaisi to Kiev, in Ukraine, will also be expanded from three weekly to daily flights from April 1, 2013.
Officially opened as a Category A airport on September 27, 2012, as one of three international airports in Georgia after Tblisi and Batumi, Kutaisi Int'l Airport has a 2,600 m runway to serve both own operations as well as providing a new alternate airport for international air traffic.
