Mar 13, 2013 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways may be walking on thin ice with plans for a new Asian route to be launched in 2013.
Plans are to start services from Tashkent to Singapore, initially offering two weekly rotations on the route.
But in 2011, only 350 Singapore citizens reportedly visited Uzbekistan, and although this volumes increased by 43 percent in 2012 it still amounted to only 500, according to National Association of Travel Agents Singapore!
Given the route will be opened with Airbus A320 Family aircraft, it would still fill only three or four flights in 2013.
