Mar 06, 2013 (newstodate): The Romanian carrier and SkyTeam-member TAROM ended 2012 with a rise in load factor to 66 percent and carrying a total of 2.2 mio passengers.
Still, the airline is marred by a bad economy and negative revenues from operations.
As promised already in 2011, the Romanian state implemented a new management in December 2012, headed by ex-Luxair boss Christian Edouard Heinzmann as CEO.
The task for the new management is to cut losses, reduce operating costs, increase the revenue by countering the low-cost competition, standardize the fleet and operate the route network efficiently.
In the Tarom fleet are now two Airbus A310, four Airbus A319, seven ATR 42-500, two ATR 72-500, four Boeing 737-300, four Boeing 737-700 and one Boeing 737-800.
Plans are to phase-out the A310 aircraft and consolidate the fleet structure with either Airbus A320 Family or Boeing 737 aircraft.
