Mar 07, 2013 (newstodate): In January 2013, Russia's top-five airlines in the cargo industry further strengthened their dominating position in the country's airfreight market.
Together, the five airlines accounted for 76.1 percent of the total cargo volume carried by Russian carriers, compared to 73.6 percent in January 2012.
They jointly lifted 53,452 tonnes of cargo in January 2013 against 42,356 tonnes in January 2012.
The five companies are AirBridgeCargo with 30,636 tonnes and up 41.5 percent, y-o-y, followed by Aeroflot, 11,655 tonnes and up 14.5 percent, Volga-Dnepr with 5,422 tonnes and down 0.4 percent, Transaero with 3,489 tonnes and 15.8 percent, and finally S7 Sibir with 2,250 tonnes and up 8.4 percent, y-o-y.
In total Russian carrier lifted 70,261 tonnes of cargo in January 2013, an increase by 22.1 percent, y-o-y.
