Mar 13, 2013 (newstodate): Capital from the United Arab Emirates may soon flow into Serbia, benefiting also the country's aviation and air cargo sectors.
A visit by Abu Dhabi's designated crown prince to Service has reportedly ended with talks over an acquisition of a stake in Serbia's ailing carrier JAT by the Abu Dhabi-based Gulf carrier Etihad Airways, clearing the road to survival of the Serb airline and a long-overdue renewal of its aircraft fleet.
Talks have reportedly also revealed interest from Abu Dhabi to invest in the construction of a new large air cargo terminal at Belgrade Airport with a focus on handling of perishables and other sensitive cargo shipments.
Construction of a new aircraft maintenance facility in cooperation with JAT Tehnica has also surfaced at meetings between the Serb and Abu Dhabi parties.
