Mar 05, 2013 (newstodate): Armavia was the first carrier to operate the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, in commercial service from April 21, 2011.
A second aircraft was due for delivery, but eventually Armavia's Superjet aircraft were stored in Russia after a deep conflict between the carrier and the Russian party.
Armavia claims that the negative experience from operating the aircraft has caused deep financial problems, while Sukhoi maintains that Armavia has now been able to meet its contract obligations as to payments.
As the aircraft has stood idle in Russia since August 2012, the manufacturer will now release it for sale to another airline in 2013.
The second aircraft was slated for delivery in 2012, but repeatedly re-scheduled and eventually rejected by Armavia that earlier planned to take in up to five aircraft of this type.
