Mar 20 (newstodate): The outgoing CEO at Air Greenland delivered a final and very positive year-end result 2012 at yesterday's AGM.
The report details a significant increase in profits and a marked decrease in costs and depreciation.
One driving factor behind the improved performance has been the replacement of the carrier's ageing Dash-7 aircraft with more cost-efficient Dash-8 aircraft on the domestic fixed-wing route network.
The carrier has thus sold two of its remaining three Dash-7 aircraft in 2012, and also contributing to the lower coast base is a restructuring of the lease arrangement for its single Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Air Greenland has managed to obtain lower lease costs for the remaining part of the contract period while agreeing to buy the Airbus aircraft after its expiry.
Michael Binzer, the carrier's current CEO, is stepping by March 31, 2013, to be replaced in the chair from August 1, 2013, by Michael Hojgaard who comes from positions within the SAS Group.
In the interim period, Mogens E Jensen, Air Greenland CFO will cover the position as CEO as well.
