Mar 01, 2013 (newstodate): In 2012, Finland's Helsinki Vantaa Airport noted the largest increase in volumes among Nordic airports and was also the region's second-largest, measured in tonnes of cargo.
The airport saw its volumes up by 12.8 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 192,504 tonnes.
The region's undisputed leader in cargo volumes was, however, Denmark's Copenhagen Airport that also saw its volumes up by 6.4 percent to a total of 354,269 tonnes.
Volume-wise, Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport came third with 128,363 tonnes, but down a hefty 16.8 percent, y-o-y.
Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport came fourth with a total of 105,543 tonnes and a growth at 6.9 percent, y-o-y.
Fifth in the region was Denmark's Billund Airport with 61,666 tonnes , but down 2.6 percent, y-o-y.
Sixth was Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport with 52,948 tonnes, but down 28.6 percent, y-o-y.
Seventh was Iceland's Keflavik Airport with 40,169 tonnes, and up six percent, y-o-y.
Looking slightly east, Russia's St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport handled a total of 30,844 tonnes, an increase by wight percent, y-o-y.
