Feb 15, 2013 (newstodate): First to launch traffic at Georgia's new Kutaisi International Airport, the Wizz Air Ukraine is now expanding with new services.
Effective from April 13, 2013, the carrier will introduce two weekly flights from Kutaisi to Donetsk, in Ukraine, from May 15, 2013, Wizz Air will offer two weekly rotation on the new route between Kutaisi and Warsaw, in Poland, and starting from July 1, 2013, the carrier will also open flights from Kutaisi to Kharkov, in Ukraine.
The carrier's first route from Kutaisi to Kiev, in Ukraine, will also be expanded from three weekly to daily flights from April 1, 2013.
Ryanair is also reportedly mulling plans for starting low-cost services to Georgia, but so far no announcement has been made.
Officially opened as a Category A airport on September 27, 2012, as one of three international airports in Georgia after Tblisi and Batumi, Kutaisi Int'l Airport has a 2,600 m runway to serve both own operations as well as providing a new alternate airport for international air traffic.
