Feb 15, 2013 (newstodate): An increasing shortage of pilots in Russia is now clearing the road for Russian carriers to hire foreign cabin crew.
A quota in 2013 of 200 foreign pilots, captains and instructors is soon to be announced, industry sources say.
Russia currently has about 12,000 certified commercial pilots, but many airlines are in deficit of new pilots, like Aeroflot that is reportedly short of 150 cockpit crew members.
Over-all, Russia is said to be short of some 1,000 pilots.
