Feb 19, 2013 (newstodate): In 2031 Airbus foresees the global long-haul traffic to be concentrated at only few major international hubs.
Thus, 95 percent of all long-haul traffic will be concentrated at only 92 international mega-cities in 2031 - and among them only Copenhagen Airport and Helsinki Vantaa Airport, in Denmark and Finland, will qualify in the Nordic region.
These 92 mega-cities will have 10,000 or more long-haul passengers per day flying to, from, and in transit.
In the case of Denmark, the development still hinges on the intensity of the development of Copenhagen Airport as the prime hub for SAS and Star Alliance partners, and in the case of Helsinki the development is driven by Finnair's continued efforts to secure a leading role in provision of traffic between Northern Europe and Asia building on an efficient feeder traffic between European markets and Helsinki.
