Feb 13, 2013 (newstodate): Emirates SkyCargo's GSSA in the Nordic region has managed to obtain at least some space on the carrier's freighter operation through Copenhagen Airport from March 3, 2013.
The call at Copenhagen Airport will be intersected for technical reasons on Emirates SkyCargo's new route between Dubai and Chicaco, USA, that requires an en-route stop.
-We have managed to obtain a very limited capacity on the Sunday flight form Copenhagen to Chicago, corresponding to a few pallets not exceeding 10 percent of the total capacity of the Boeing 777F, says Jens Heide, Scanpartners mng dir and owner.
-Once the news of the new Chicago-bound service broke we were immediately contacted by several freight forwarders and shippers as Chicago is a cargo destination much in demand in the region. The Dubai-Chicago-Dubai flights are, however, booked from the start in both directions, leaving little capacity for us to sell.
-Our ambitions will therefore be to select the most attractive high-yield shipments, hopefully convincing Emirates SkyCargo of the potentials in the Nordic region paving the road for a future expansion of the freighter services, says Mr Heide.
Since September 2003, Emirates SkyCargo has also been operating Boeing 777F freighter rotations through Gothenburg on the route between Dubai and New York, currently offering three weekly calls at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
