Feb 14, 2013 (newstodate): Icelandair has increased its orders with Boeing for new medium-range aircraft.
Signing orders in December 2012 for delivery of 12 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 aircraft, Icelandair has put another four aircraft on the top, with all deliveries to start from 2018.
Icelandair has also secured purchase rights for a further eight aircraft of the type.
In the fleet of the Icelandair Group are now 22 Boeing 757-200 aircraft including four freighters, and one Boeing 757-300.
The carrier is, however, considering adding more Boeing 757-200 aircraft and expects the aircraft type to remain in service for another 10 years.
