Feb 19, 2013 (newstodate): Iceland's Keflavik Airport is preparing for a busy summer 2013 season.
The operator of the airport, Isavia Ltd. predicts a 10 percent increase in passenger volumes, compared to 2012.
In the coming summer schedule 16 airlines plan to operate flights at Keflavik Airport, including, besides Icelandair, also Air Berlin, Air Greenland, Austrian Airlines, Avion Express/WOW Air, Delta Air Lines, Lufthansa, easyJet, Edelweiss Air, Germanwings, Niki, Norwegian, Primera Air, SAS, Thomas Cook Airlines, and Transavia.
The current winter schedule is seeing six airlines operating at Keflavik against only three last year, and 2013 has come off to a good start already with a 21.6 percent increase in passenger traffic in January.
On February 14, 2013, easyJet launched new direct flights between Keflavik and Manchester with two weekly rotations, and the carrier has also increased frequency on flights between Keflavik International and London Luton Airport to four weekly rotations.
Furthermore, easyJet is now also planning to add new flights between Keflavik and Edinburgh starting from March 21, 2013.
