Feb 15, 2013 (newstodate): Starting from this summer, a new ground handling company will launch business at Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
From May 2013, Sweport AB, a company established and fully-owned by regional carriers NextJet and Hoga Kusten Flyg will start a limited range of handling services for its owners.
The service offering will gradually be extended to eventually comprise a full handling package at the airport.
Managing the new handling company will be Arri Kallonen as Sweport AB managing director, and formerly serving as Nordic Aero managing director.
Currently providing handling services at Stockholm Arlanda Airport are six companies - SGS, Nordic Aero, Menzies Aviation and Havas Europe, as well as two providers dedicated to general aviation and one US carrier, respectively.
Havas Europe will, however, pull out from Stockholm Arlanda Airport from March 10, 2013, reportedly due to a growing imbalance between a growth in its airline customer portfolio and a decline in their flight frequencies.
