Feb 15, 2013 (newstodate): Finland's Helsinki Vantaa Airport experienced a growth by 12.8 percent, y-o-y, in cargo volumes in 2012.
A total of 192,504 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, including 188,526 tonnes of international cargo that increased by 12.7 percent.
Domestic cargo through the airport was also up by 19.4 percent to 3,677 tonnes.
By contrast, Finland's national carrier Finnair saw only a 1.5 percent growth in volumes in 2012, to 148,132 tonnes, and IATA-carriers sales volumes in Finland was also only around 2011-levels.
This might indicate the growth in volumes at Helsinki may derive from increased traffic by non-IATA carriers, and certainly not from Finnair Cargo's performance in 2012.
